Violinist Heather Braun began her early musical training with Suzuki pedagogues Joseph McSpadden and Celestine Fitzgerald, and continued in high school under Eriks Klavins. She completed her undergraduate studies in May 2006 at the Eastman School of Music, studying with Mikhail Kopelman, former first violinist of the Borodin Quartet. While at Eastman, Heather sat concertmaster for Eastman orchestras, and was a member of the ensemble the Cape Cod Experiment (CCE), which formed to attend Soundfest, the Colorado String Quartet's program in Falmouth, Mass. CCE was featured in George Perle's 80th birthday concert in Kilbourn Hall. They twice won the honor to play for Eastman's Chamber Music Honors Concert, and were invited by the Ying Quartet to collaborate in Mendelssohn's Octet for a concert honoring the Yings. Heather has attended the Boston University Tanglewood Institute, the Manchester (VT) Music Festival, and the BSO's Tanglewood Music Center for two seasons. While at TMC, Heather sat concertmaster under Seiji Ozawa and Herbert Bloomstedt. She also is a member of the Manchester Music Festival's String Orchestra, soloing with them the summer of 2007. She performs in MMF's chamber music series. Heather is currently at Boston University studying for her Master of Music on a full scholarship. She has sat concertmaster with the BU Symphony Orchestra and studies with the Muir Quartet's first violinist, Peter Zazofsky. |
