Phoebe Carrai, cellist, performs nationally with such groups as Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra, The Handel and Haydn Society, Arcadian Academy and Concert Royal. She is a founding member of the Van Swieten Quartet and The International Baroque Institute at Longy. She is on the faculties of the Longy School of Music in Cambridge, Massachusetts and of the Conservatory of the Arts in Berlin, Germany. Ms. Carrai earned her Bachelors and Masters degrees at the New England Conservatory of Music where she studied with Lawrence Lesser. Upon graduating, she was awarded a Beebe foundation grant and studied in Salzburg with Nicolaus Harnoncourt. For ten years she was a member of Musica Antiqua Koln, touring and teaching in the United states, Scandinavia, Asia and Australia. Last year's highlights include concerts in Vienna and Berlin with Andreas Scholl and solo appearances in Massachusetts, Texas, Maine and Montreal. She is also teaching courses at the International Handel Akademie in Karlsruhe, Germany and the Schola Cantorum in Basel, Switzerland. Ms. Carrai has recorded for Deutsche Gramaphon Archive, Decca, Harmonia Mundi Germany, and BMG. She resides in Cambridge, Massachusetts. |
